JOB DESCRIPTION

We are seeking a Senior Staff Broadcast Network Engineer to join our Broadcast IP Infrastructure team in New York. This role focuses on the design, implementation, and support of high-performance, reliable, and scalable IP networks that enable live broadcast and media production environments.

The ideal candidate will have deep technical expertise in media-over-IP workflows (SMPTE ST 2110, network synchronization (PTP), and software-defined networking (SDN) solutions. You will collaborate with broadcast engineering, IT, and operation teams to ensure reliable and scalable infrastructure for real-time media workflows, powering real-time video, audio, and data transport for live contents.

A SNAPSHOT OF YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Design, deploy, and maintain IP-based broadcast networks supporting uncompressed media transport and real-time workflows.

  • Collaborate with the SDN and Infrastructure teams to develop deterministic, low-latency, and resilient network solutions for live production.

  • Evaluate and optimize current network architecture for scalability, performance, and timing accuracy.

  • Lead troubleshooting and root cause analysis for complex media and IP transport issues across multiple facilities.

  • Partner with internal stakeholders and external vendors to integrate new media networking and orchestration technologies.

  • Implement and manage network automation and configuration management tools, including Ansible and Arista CloudVision (Arista Validated Design).

  • Perform capacity planning, multicast management, and QoS optimization for real-time media applications.

  • Maintain system resilience and uptime through proactive monitoring, failover validation, and firmware lifecycle management.

  • Create and maintain comprehensive network documentation, including topology diagrams, configuration details, and change control records.

  • Provide mentorship and technical guidance to operations staff.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED

  • Minimum 10 years of experience designing and supporting large-scale, mission-critical IP networks.

  • Strong understanding of broadcast and media transport over IP environments.

  • Hands-on experience with Arista switching platforms and modern data center network architectures.

  • Deep knowledge of multicast routing, QoS, and synchronization technologies (e.g., PTP).

  • Proficiency in automation and orchestration frameworks such as Ansible and Python.

  • Experience with spine-leaf architectures, SDN, and VXLAN/EVPN-based designs.

  • Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills, with experience using tools such as Wireshark.

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in live production environments.

  • Demonstrated ability to mentor and share technical expertise across teams.
