Workday Implementation Engineer Sr
We are seeking a Senior Workday Technical Engineer with deep expertise in Workday Extend to design, build, and maintain custom applications and complex integrations. You will act as a platform custodian, taking end-to-end ownership of solutions from initial design through to production. This role requires an engineer who thrives in ambiguous environments, communicates risks proactively, and continuously adopts new Workday features.

Design and build Workday Extend applications, custom UIs, orchestrations, and business-process extensions to enhance platform capabilities.

Develop and maintain robust integrations using Workday Studio, EIB, Core Connectors, RaaS, and REST/SOAP APIs across internal and third-party systems.

Translate complex business and functional requirements into scalable technical solutions, clearly communicating trade-offs to stakeholders.

Participate in design reviews and architecture discussions, contributing to integration standards, naming conventions, and reusable patterns.

Monitor integration health, data quality, and performance; proactively identify and mitigate risks before they impact production.

Troubleshoot and resolve production integration and Extend issues, partnering closely with vendors and internal platform teams.

Write and maintain comprehensive technical specifications, design documentation, and operational runbooks.

Provide mentorship, guidance, and peer review support to junior engineers on the team.

Stay current on Workday Community releases and bi-annual features, bringing relevant innovations to the teams long-term roadmap.

Experience: 5+ years of hands-on Workday technical development experience, with at least 2 years explicitly focused on Workday Extend application development.

Workday Extend Toolset: Strong working knowledge of Orchestrations, Business Object models, Workday Extend APIs, and custom application deployment.

Core Integrations: Demonstrated proficiency in Workday Studio, EIB, Core Connectors, RaaS, Document Transformation, and XSLT.

Web Services & Programming: Solid grasp of REST/SOAP APIs, JSON, XML, and XSLT. Proficiency in at least one general-purpose programming language (Java, JavaScript, or Python) for scripting and tooling.

Functional Knowledge: Strong understanding of Workday HCM data structures and business processes across multiple domains (e.g., HCM, Payroll, Time Tracking, Benefits, Absence).

Environment: Experience working within Agile/Scrum methodologies, version control (Git), and enterprise CI/CD practices.

Education: BA/BS in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.

Certifications: Workday certification(s) in Integrations, Workday Extend, or related technical domains.

Advanced Analytics: Experience with Workday Prism Analytics, BigQuery, BIRT report design, or complex Calculated Fields.

iPaaS Platforms: Familiarity with Oracle Integration Cloud (OIC), MuleSoft, or similar enterprise middleware.

Industry Experience: Prior work in retail, e-commerce, or workforce-intensive environments handling scheduling, time-and-attendance, or commission systems (e.g., Kronos/UKG, Cornerstone integrations).

Testing: Experience with automated testing frameworks for Workday (e.g., Kainos).
Note for Candidates: Round 2 will require you to actively demonstrate your past work with Workday Extend and coding proficiency.
