We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Structural Engineer to join our client's growing engineering team in Houston, TX. This contract-to-hire opportunity is ideal for an engineering professional looking to build technical expertise while contributing to complex industrial and facility design projects.



In this role, you will work closely with Structural Leads, Engineers, Designers, and multidisciplinary teams to support structural analysis, design development, and construction documentation. You'll gain hands-on experience across multiple aspects of structural engineering while taking increasing ownership of project responsibilities.



Position Summary

As a Structural Engineering Professional, you will assist in the performance of structural analysis and design for a variety of projects. You will help develop structural concepts, perform engineering calculations, and collaborate with design teams to ensure structural requirements are accurately reflected in drawings and models.

Responsibilities


  • Perform conventional structural engineering analysis and design activities under general supervision

  • Assist with the evaluation, selection, and application of engineering techniques, procedures, and design criteria

  • Develop engineering judgment and problem-solving capabilities while collaborating with senior engineers and peers

  • Support lateral analysis and design activities involving wind and seismic loading requirements

  • Apply relevant building code provisions and engineering standards

  • Prepare and review structural calculations and technical documentation

  • Perform calculation checks and support quality control efforts

  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary engineering and design teams

  • Manage assigned tasks to meet project schedules, budgets, and quality expectations

  • Identify potential scope changes and communicate concerns to project leadership

  • Take ownership of assigned structural scope and proactively seek clarification when needed

  • Support development of structural deliverables including drawings and models

  • Participate in occasional field walks and site visits as required



Required Qualifications


  • Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering with emphasis in Structural Engineering

  • Engineer in Training (EIT) certification

  • Minimum 2 years of structural engineering experience

  • Working knowledge of U.S. building codes and standards including:

    • IBC

    • ASCE 7

    • ACI

    • AISC



  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Excellent interpersonal and collaboration abilities

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality



Preferred Qualifications


  • Master's degree in Structural Engineering or Civil Engineering with structural emphasis

  • Experience using structural analysis and coordination software including:

    • STAAD

    • Navisworks

    • Bluebeam



  • Experience designing steel and concrete structures

  • Experience supporting semiconductor, industrial, or manufacturing facility projects
