We are seeking a skilled Structural Engineer for a contract-to-hire opportunity supporting complex industrial and advanced facility projects in the Houston area. This role is ideal for an experienced engineering professional who thrives in collaborative design environments and is passionate about delivering high-quality structural solutions for challenging projects.
As part of a multidisciplinary engineering team, you will contribute to structural analysis, design development, and coordination efforts while working closely with engineers, designers, and project stakeholders. Key Responsibilities
- Perform structural engineering analysis and design for steel and concrete structures
- Support the development of structural design concepts and construction documentation
- Conduct lateral analysis and design for wind and seismic loading in accordance with applicable building codes
- Apply engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria to a wide range of project assignments
- Collaborate with structural leads, designers, and other engineering disciplines to ensure coordinated project execution
- Review and check calculations and engineering work prepared by peers
- Maintain strong attention to detail and quality control throughout all phases of design
- Manage assigned workload to meet project schedules, budgets, and deliverable requirements
- Identify scope changes and communicate project impacts to leadership
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and designers
- Support continuous improvement initiatives, workflows, and emerging technologies within the structural discipline
- Participate in occasional field walks and site assessments as needed
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering with an emphasis in Structural Engineering
- Professional Engineer (PE) License
- Minimum 4 years of structural engineering experience
- Strong knowledge of U.S. building codes and standards including:
- IBC
- ASCE 7
- ACI
- AISC
- Experience with structural analysis and engineering software tools
- Proficiency with Navisworks and Bluebeam
- Experience designing traditional steel and reinforced concrete structures
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a team environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's Degree in Structural Engineering or Civil Engineering with Structural emphasis
- Experience supporting semiconductor, industrial, or advanced manufacturing facilities
- Experience leading small engineering teams or mentoring junior staff
