Machine Operator

PGS Worldwide is seeking a Machine Operator in Owego, NY for a one-year contract-to-hire role supporting a leading aerospace & defense company.

The Machine Operator will operate light-duty bench and floor-type machine tools used in production manufacturing. This role involves running equipment such as small lathes, power mills, drills, punch presses, brakes, shears, saws, and other machine tools while checking work to close tolerances using gauges, jigs, and fixtures.

Required Skills

• Experience operating light-duty bench or floor-type machine tools.
• Ability to operate equipment such as small lathes, power mills, extruding machines, drills, punch presses, power brakes, shears, or saws.
• Ability to set up machining equipment and make adjustments as needed.
• Ability to perform basic machine maintenance.
• Ability to check work using prescribed gauges, jigs, and fixtures.
• Ability to measure close tolerances.
• Ability to monitor and verify quality in accordance with statistical process or other control procedures.
• Ability to work in a production or manufacturing environment.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with numerically controlled machines.
• Experience with machine operation, machining setup, production equipment, close-tolerance measurement, quality checks, gauges, jigs, fixtures, light-duty machining, and manufacturing support.

What Youll Do

• Operate light-duty bench and floor-type machine tools.
• Run equipment such as small lathes, power mills, extruding machines, drills, punch presses, brakes, shears, and saws.
• Set up machines and make adjustments as needed.
• Perform basic maintenance on machines.
• Inspect work using gauges, jigs, and fixtures.
• Verify dimensions and tolerances during production.
• Support quality checks using statistical process or other control procedures.
• Maintain safe and accurate machine operation.

Pay

• $18.00/hour
