Job Description

TheSenior Lead MechanicalEngineer focuses on the design and engineering of HVAC and mechanicalutilitiesfor buildings. The individual possesses demonstrated ability to manage multiple complex tasks,coordinate with internal and external parties,establish priorities and direct the work of others. Typical tasks and deliverables that are executed by or under the supervision of the Senior Lead include site selection, master planning, commissioning and startup, load calculations, utility assessments, energy modeling, design reports, code evaluations, plans, P&IDs, schedules, HAZOP reviews, installation details,equipment and system selection and specification, and coordination with manufacturers and trade partners. Project work includes directing design activities for all levels of design such as studies, conceptual and schematic design, design development, construction documentation and construction administration.The Senior Lead understands the development and field implementation of documents through all project phases, sizes and levels of complexity.

TheSenior Lead Mechanical Engineeris responsible forproviding oversight for the discipline at a project, office and regional level. They oversee the Mechanical discipline scope of work and managesthe discipline budget on all project phases, sizes and levels of complexity, anddirects and manages the workflows and execution of design and engineering support staff (Entry-Level to Senior) to meet client expectations and project goals.TheSeniorLead Engineer may work independently or at the direction of the Project Manager.

Responsibilities

  • Directs and managesthe workflows and execution of design and engineering support staff (Entry-Level to Senior) tomeet client expectationsand project goals.
  • Coordinateswith internal and external parties, managesmultiple complex tasks, establishespriorities and directsthe work of others.
  • Workswith a Project Manageronproposal development,design task identification,man-hour planningandproject scheduling for the discipline scope of work on advanced level projects.
  • Identifiesand resolvesadvanced non-compliant existing conditions during site walks and construction field surveys.
  • Attendsexternal seminars/conferences for professional development.
  • Developsadvanced internal mechanical design and engineering training presentations.
  • Developsnarratives, reports andconstruction drawing packages and writesconstruction specifications on advanced and complex projects without oversight.
  • Provides lead and advancedsupport of construction activities such as RFI responses, submittal reviews, punch list development and construction progress reports.
  • Conductstechnical and leadership interviews.
  • Conductsquality checking of documents for advanced complex projects(e.g., technical verification of design calculations and documentation)and drivesoverall project quality.
  • Providesmentorship toless experienced Mechanical Engineers and/or Designers.
  • Leadsadvanced project system design programming and master planning withminimal or nosupport from Senior Engineer.
  • Leadsa team of mechanical staff in the execution of advanced projects discipline design and engineering.
  • Provides oversight and technical leadership to other offices and related functions such as Business Development, Technical Advancement and Vertical Markets.
  • Provides industry-level perspective and guidance to frame business strategy in the face of evolving technology or client buying behavior.
