Assembler 2nd Shift
PGS Worldwide is seeking a Solder Assembler in Oldsmar, FL for a one-year contract-to-hire role supporting a leading aerospace & defense company.
The Solder Assembler will assemble printed circuit boards by soldering a wide range of electronic components, inspecting for defects, and ensuring all work meets IPC quality and reliability standards. This role requires strong hands-on soldering experience, IPC-A-610 knowledge, microscope/AOI inspection ability, and comfort working 2nd shift.
Required Skills
- High school diploma or GED.
- Minimum 2 years of hands-on solder assembly experience in a production environment.
- IPC-A-610 soldering experience.
- Proficiency with IPC standards, including IPC-A-610 and IPC J-STD-001.
- Ability to perform manual and/or selective soldering.
- Experience soldering through-hole, SMT, BGA, QFN, CSP, and other component types.
- Ability to solder and inspect component sizes ranging from 0201 to 1206, including BGAs and QFNs.
- Experience with mixed-technology boards, including SMT and through-hole components.
- Familiarity with soldering tools such as soldering irons, hot air guns, reflow ovens, and wave solder machines.
- Strong visual inspection skills.
- Ability to use microscopes and AOI equipment to detect solder defects.
- Ability to identify solder defects such as bridges, cold joints, tombstoning, insufficient wetting, and voids.
- Ability to verify solder paste, flux, and materials meet required specifications.
- Detail-oriented approach with strong problem-solving ability.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to follow safety procedures, including hazardous material handling and PPE requirements.
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
- Ability to read and write English.
- Ability to take and pass a required medical exam.
- Must be able to work 2nd shift; candidates will not be able to move to 1st shift.
Preferred Skills
- Technical or vocational training in electronics assembly.
- Knowledge of IPC-2221/2222 design standards.
- Knowledge of lead-free and RoHS-compliant processes.
- Familiarity with statistical process control and yield analysis.
- Experience with PCB assembly, electronics manufacturing, solder inspection, defect identification, AOI inspection, microscope inspection, rework, selective soldering, component-level soldering, and production quality improvement.
What Youll Do
- Assemble printed circuit boards by soldering a wide variety of components.

- Conduct visual inspections using microscopes, AOI equipment, and other inspection tools.

- Recommend and support improvements to soldering processes, tooling, and work instructions.
- Follow safety procedures, hazardous material handling rules, and PPE requirements.
- Support production quality, reliability, and teamwork goals.
Work Schedule / Shift
- MondayThursday.
- 2nd shift: 3:30 PM2:00 AM EST.
- Candidates will not be able to move to 1st shift.
