Job Summary

The Commercial Cabling Technician is responsible for installing, routing, terminating, testing, and supporting structured cabling systems in commercial environments. This role supports network infrastructure projects, including wireless access point installations, while ensuring all work is completed in accordance with industry standards, project specifications, and safety requirements. The technician will interact directly with client representatives, maintain a professional presence on-site, and deliver high-quality cabling installations that support reliable network connectivity.

Job Responsibilities

  • Install, route, dress, terminate, and test CAT cabling in commercial environments.

  • Support the installation and connectivity of network infrastructure, including cabling for wireless access points.

  • Follow installation standards and ensure all cabling is properly labeled, organized, and documented.

  • Perform testing and verification of installed cabling to confirm network functionality and connectivity.

  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment at all times.

  • Communicate professionally with client representatives and project stakeholders on-site.

  • Collaborate with team members to complete projects according to specifications and deadlines.

  • Support project schedules that may require overtime and weekend work as needed.

Job Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience installing, terminating, and testing CAT cabling in commercial environments.

  • Ability to route and dress structured cabling according to industry standards and best practices.

  • Proficiency with common cabling tools, testing equipment, and installation methods.

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.

  • Ability to interact professionally with clients and maintain a customer-focused approach.

  • Willingness to work extended hours, including overtime and weekends, as required by project demands.

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work on ladders, lifts, or in overhead environments.

  • Steel-toe or composite-toe work boots required.

Work Experience

  • Previous commercial structured cabling installation experience required.

  • Experience supporting network infrastructure projects in commercial environments preferred.
