Position Summary

STERIS is seeking an experienced Senior Manager, Sterile Processing to lead facility production and quality initiatives. This role is responsible for overseeing production and quality performance across outsourced facilities and customer accounts while ensuring a high level of operational excellence and customer satisfaction.

The Senior Manager will be responsible for proactively managing daily operations, ensuring contractual commitments are met, and maintaining the highest standards in sterile processing. The role also involves providing on-site support, training, and strategic communication for both internal teams and client facility staff.

In addition, the position ensures compliance with regulatory standards from organizations such as the Department of Health, TJC, DNV, OSHA, CDC, AAMI, and AORN. Through expertise in process improvement, the Senior Manager will lead initiatives using STERIS Process Improvement (PI) modules to enhance efficiency, safety, and service quality across operations.

This is an onsite role based in Chicago, Illinois.

Key Responsibilities
The Senior Manager, Sterile Processing will:
Lead and support a high-performing leadership team to deliver day-to-day service that meets customer expectations, contractual obligations, and business objectives.
Build and maintain strong relationships with customers at multiple levels, including executive leadership, through regular KPI reviews, pulse checks, and bi-annual business reviews.
Address and resolve customer issues by identifying root causes, implementing corrective actions, and monitoring measurable outcomes.
Partner with STERIS Business Development and internal teams to identify growth opportunities, support contract changes, and expand service offerings.
Ensure full compliance with regulatory requirements including DOH, TJC, DNV, OSHA, CDC, AAMI, and AORN standards, as well as facility policies.
Oversee staffing strategies and ensure resources are aligned with operational demand.
Promote a culture focused on employee engagement, retention, safety, and continuous development.
Manage recruitment, onboarding, coaching, and performance management to build a skilled and motivated workforce.
Lead continuous improvement initiatives using STERIS Process Improvement methodologies and coach teams in PI practices.
Ensure timely and accurate completion of administrative responsibilities such as documentation, billing, inventory management, and time records.
Manage P&L responsibilities and ensure financial targets are achieved while maintaining high service standards.
Implement policies, procedures, and service enhancements aligned with contracts and STERIS operational standards.
Collaborate with STERIS operations, service, and finance teams to support broader business objectives, invoicing accuracy, and financial reporting.
Required Experience, Skills, and Qualifications
High School Diploma
10 years of experience in Sterile Processing
5 years of leadership experience within Sterile Processing
CRCST or CBSPD certification (must be obtained within 12 months of hire if not already certified)
Ability to meet hospital and customer credentialing requirements
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's degree
Leadership experience supporting a minimum of 20 Operating Rooms
