I. Position Overview
The Material Handler I is responsible for supporting the movement, handling, and storage of raw materials, work-in-process, and finished goods in a cGMP manufacturing environment. This entry-level role focuses on accurate material handling, basic inventory tasks, and maintaining a clean and organized warehouse.
II. Essential Functions:
- Receive and inspect incoming materials for accuracy and damage.
- Store materials in designated warehouse locations following established procedures.
- Pick, stage, and deliver materials to internal departments as requested.
- Assist with maintaining warehouse organization, cleanliness, and safety compliance.
- Perform basic inventory activities such as cycle counts and stock checks.
- Accurately complete required documentation and perform data entry in inventory systems.
- Support packaging and preparation of materials for internal movement or shipment.
- Uses material handling equipment, such as pallet jacks, and forklifts, to move materials.
- Follow all company policies, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and cGMP requirements.
- Work collaboratively with team members and support other warehouse activities as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
III. Position Requirements
Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma or equivalent is required
- Associate s degree is preferred
- Minimum of 2 years experience in warehouse, logistics, or manufacturing environment.
- Experience in a GMP, FDA-regulated, biotechnology environment is preferred.
- Fork lift experience required; valid fork lift license preferred.
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing practices; Kan Ban, JIT, FEFO preferred.
Knowledge/Skills Requirements:
- Mathematical skills including the ability to perform addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
- Demonstrates appropriate safety consciousness. Follow Environmental, Health and Safety rules/regulations and report any workplace incidents, injuries or accidents immediately.
