The System Engineer will be responsible for managing and reporting on day-to-day tasks associated with the deployment and installation of the monitoring and asset management systems. They will review the development of policy and procedures for maintaining the monitoring and asset management systems. This position will be responsible for coordinating and leading in the design, testing, evaluation, implementation, and support for multiple complex platforms of large size and complexity (hardware, operating systems, software, and systems tools). They will utilize tools focused on configuration management, deployment, and automation. They must understand how data flows through business system, and have the ability to understand business applications and how they interact with the system infrastructure including knowledge of storage and security. The System Engineer leads in providing consultation and direct technical support in life cycle planning, problem management, integration, and systems programming.

Essential Functions:
- Lead highly complex capacity planning
- Workload modeling, system maintenance/ administration, and diagnostics
- Analyze, design, and document platforms/systems to meet enterprise requirements
- Install, customize, maintain, test, and troubleshoot operating systems and other systems software
- Configure, install, maintain, test, and troubleshoot hardware systems
- Perform root cause analysis to quickly recover from service interruptions, and to prevent recurring problems
- Plan and implement life cycle management of software and hardware
- Ensure platforms/systems conform to established enterprise/industry standards (systems management, security, operating systems, etc.) and reference models
- Keep abreast of industry and technology trends
- Monitor, manage, and tune platforms to ensure expected availability and performance levels are achieved
- Implement changes to platforms with minimal impact to the business by following enterprise standards and procedures
- Administer and maintaining network and hardware platform for customers
- Coordinate activities with internal/external technology stakeholders/service providers
- Perform technical reviews comparing enterprise standard platform components with that of their leading industry competitors
- Understand technical/business requirements gathered from the business units
- Thorough, in-depth understanding of server and desktop-based technology, utilizing network systems related to enterprise view
- Consult with other business units (e.g. application groups, DBAs, middleware, etc.) to configure platforms for product installation
- Research, evaluate, and recommend emerging technologies for enterprise use to consistently drive down total cost of ownership
- Oversees and sets platform performance and availability improvements measures based on metric analysis.
- Design and document enterprise standards and procedures
- Provide technical support, as needed, to the enterprise
- Provide on-site, and on-call 7x24x365 support, as needed.
- Implements multiple complex releases, upgrades, and/or changes into the environment
- Monitor industry trends and anticipates future direction for system platforms
- Must be professional in verbal and written communication skills, providing superior customer service at every level from credit union staff to senior management
Job Qualifications
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future.
Required Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- 6+ years experience in the design/administration/support of one or more platforms
- 5+ years experience in working applicable infrastructure technology
- 2+ years experience working with monitoring systems built around the Simple Network Monitoring Protocol (SNMP), Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI), NetFlow, and Network Based Application Recognition (NBAR)
- 2+ years Microsoft Server products high density blade server technology Enterprise Storage technologies (NetApp, EMC, HP and working with technologies such as NFS, iSCSI, Fiber Channel, De-duplication, Replication, and Snapshots)
- Infrastructure Technology certification in an applicable IT field, such as Virtualization, Storage, Server, or Operating Systems.
- Strong understanding of how data flows through a business system and how the business applications interact with the system infrastructure
- General knowledge of layer 2 and layer 3 networking, and networking services such as naming and DHCP services
- Network Management System (NMS) agnostic and understand how to configure both the server and the client
- Strong knowledge of multiple complex systems (operating/integration/architecture) and programming languages/methodologies
- Thorough, in depth understanding of server and desk top based technology, utilizing network systems related to enterprise view
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Complies with all Credit Union policies and procedures including those related to Bank Secrecy Act regulations
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelors Degree in Information Technology related field
- 7+ years experience in Information Systems or related discipline
- 1+ years experience with OpManager
- MCSD certification
- Experience with PowerShell, utilizing built scripts to help do more centralized management and coordination
