The IT Project Manager is responsible for managing the entire project lifecycle from project definition through implementation. This role leads multi-disciplinary teams and works closely with internal IT subject matter experts, business partners, and external vendors to ensure successful project delivery.

The IT Project Manager is accountable for meeting agreed-upon scope, cost, schedule, and quality measures. The role requires coordination of activities across multiple areas and the ability to flex across Scrum Master, Project Manager, and Program Manager responsibilities as needed.

Key ResponsibilitiesProject Leadership & Execution
  • Manage the entire project lifecycle from project initiation through implementation.
  • Lead multi-disciplinary teams across IT, business, and external vendors.
  • Coordinate activities across multiple functional areas.
  • Define project scope, timelines, objectives, and deliverables with key stakeholders.
  • Develop and maintain detailed project plans.
  • Drive project milestones and ensure adherence to scope, cost, schedule, and quality objectives.
  • Provide day-to-day direction to project resources.
  • Track budget, deliverables, risks, issues, and overall project status.
  • Prepare and maintain documentation, status reports, and budgets.
  • Establish and execute effective communication plans with project teams and stakeholders.
  • Ensure effective change management throughout the project lifecycle.
Agile & Scrum Leadership
  • Demonstrate prior experience managing application development projects.
  • Demonstrate prior experience managing projects for mainframe applications.
  • Demonstrate experience managing projects transitioning from mainframe to other technology solutions (client/server, SaaS, etc.).
  • Lead software development teams as a Scrum Master, diligently applying Scrum principles, practices, and theory.
  • Apply additional Agile approaches including Scaled Agile, Kanban, and Release Train Engineer concepts.
  • Support and manage transitions from Waterfall to Agile methodologies.
  • Utilize advanced Jira capabilities for tracking and managing Agile delivery.
Required Experience
  • Prior experience managing application development projects.
  • Prior experience managing mainframe application projects.
  • Experience managing projects transitioning from mainframe to client/server, SaaS, or other technology solutions.
  • Experience transitioning from Waterfall to Agile.
  • Strong Agile background specifically in Scrum.
  • At least 6+ years of proven experience as a Scrum Master leading a software development team.
  • Advanced experience with Jira.
  • Capability to flex across Scrum Master, Project Manager, and Program Manager roles.
Preferred Experience
  • Prior experience managing transportation, logistics, or asset management projects.
  • Prior railroad or transportation industry experience.
