Introduction

We are seeking a Test Engineer to join the Product Software QA Team, focusing on manual and automation testing for our mission-critical web application Baseline. In this role, you will bridge the gap between software validation and physical vehicle systems. You will play a key role in manual release validation, vehicle mission testing, and hardware troubleshooting, while also contributing to the development and maintenance of automated test cases. This position requires a sharp technical mind, close collaboration with cross-functional teams, and the ability to ensure high-quality releases across multiple complex environments.

Required Skills & Qualifications (Must-have qualifications that candidates must meet to be considered)
  • Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related technical field.
  • Experience: 13 years of experience as a QA/Test Engineer with proven skills in testing large-scale, complex applications.
  • Tools: Strong working experience with industry-standard testing and tracking tools like JIRA and TestRail.
  • Diagnostics & Communication Protocols: Proficient in UDS, CAN, and Ethernet communication protocols with hands-on experience in vehicle troubleshooting workflows.
  • Autonomous Vehicle (AV) Systems Knowledge: Familiarity with AV components including LiDAR, radar, cameras, and EV powertrain systems (battery, drive modules, firmware operations).
  • Core Competencies: High adaptability and accountability; ability to quickly ramp up in fast-paced environments. Rigorous documentation standards with an automation-first mindset.
  • Prior work experience at client or in client's Industry
  • Applicants must be able to work directly for Artech on W2
Preferred Skills & Qualifications (Nice-to-have skills but are not required)
  • Experience with TypeScript or JavaScript, Python.
  • Hands-on automation experience with Playwright.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities (key tasks and expectations for the role)
  • Automation & Manual Testing: Develop, maintain, and expand Playwright automation test cases to enhance regression coverage. Perform manual testing for Baseline features, releases, hotfixes, and pre-merge validations.
  • Vehicle Mission Testing & Diagnostics: Conduct vehicle mission testing, evaluate workflows from an Operations perspective, and provide detailed reporting on mission outcomes.
  • Triage & Troubleshooting: Support ZPT triage and assist in identifying, reproducing, and verifying defects across Dev, Staging, and Production environments. Utilize vehicle troubleshooting workflows to isolate issues.
  • Clear & Actionable Bug Reporting: Translate complex technical and hardware issues into concise, well-structured bug reports with unambiguous reproduction steps for developers, PMs, and stakeholders.
  • AI & Process Innovation: Capitalize on AI tools and AI-augmented critical thinking to improve QA processes, enhance testing efficiency, and constructively challenge the status quo.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with developers, QA leads, and product managers to ensure test completeness and feature validation readiness.
  • Release Ownership: Provide QA sign-off for release readiness. Document test results, maintain rigorous traceability to requirements, and track issues all the way to closure.
