Program Summary/Objective
The program is an exciting opportunity for high-school students to gain hands-on experience in retail operations, sales, estimating, and materials handling. Apprentices will work side-by-side with experienced team members to learn how a lumber yard and retail building materials store runs form the ground up.
This program is designed to introduce students to careers in construction supply, logistics, and business management, and to help them build valuable workplace skills.

How to assist with customer service and inside sales
Basics of reading blueprints and estimating material needs
Inventory management and merchandising
Exposure to store systems like invoicing, point-of-sale, and basic reporting

Responsibilities:Key Responsibilities
Greet and assist customers in a professional and friendly manner
Learn to read basic blueprints and assist with material take-offs
Organize materials in the yard and maintain cleanliness of work areas
Support store staff with merchandising and stocking tasks
Practice safe lifting techniques and follow all safety protocols

Work Environment
This apprenticeship may involve working outdoors in various weather conditions, including heat, cold, and humidity. Safety gear will be provided as needed.
Physical Demands
Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods
Able to lift up to 50 lbs with assistance
Comfortable using hands and basic tools
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a part-time position. Hours of work are flexible with school schedule.
May include weekends or summer hours
Potential for additional hours during school breaks
Qualifications:Eligibility
Currently enrolled in high school (summer of Junior or Senior Year)
Must be at least 16 years old
Parental or guardian consent required if under 18
Reliable transportation to and from store location
