Job Summary
The Assembler II is responsible for setting up equipment, preparing compounds, and performing a variety of mechanical and connector assembly operations in a manufacturing environment. This role follows written and verbal instructions, product specifications, and work orders to assemble, bond, paint, identify, and inspect components while maintaining quality and safety standards. The Assembler II works independently on routine assignments and provides training and support to entry-level assemblers.

Job Responsibilities

  • Set up equipment to support product identification, shell painting, retainer loading, contact painting, wire cutting, riveting, contact crimping, and contact hooding processes
  • Weigh, mix, and identify inks, paints, adhesives, molding compounds, potting materials, and other production materials
  • Perform standard and special connector assembly operations according to specifications and work instructions
  • Load retainers into molded plastic inserts manually or using machinery
  • Bond inserts, interface seals, grommet seals, EMI rings, and connector components according to manufacturing procedures
  • Apply identification stamping to components and assemblies
  • Paint components and apply paint stripe markings to contacts as required
  • Prepare single and shielded wires for termination and crimp contacts to prepared wires
  • Terminate simple cable assemblies to connectors
  • Load and operate heat-treat and annealing ovens
  • Follow drawings, specifications, procedures, and work orders to ensure product quality
  • Assist in training and supporting Assembler I team members
  • Stage materials for shipment as required
  • Communicate assembly issues, equipment malfunctions, and quality concerns to supervision
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
  • Interface with customers when necessary

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED from an accredited institution
  • Minimum of 12 years of experience in mechanical manufacturing or assembly operations
  • Ability to read, understand, and follow verbal instructions, product specifications, engineering drawings, and work orders in English
  • Ability to use calculators and perform basic measurements and calculations
  • Strong manual dexterity and ability to assemble small, intricate components
  • Ability to recognize assembly issues and equipment breakdowns and communicate concerns appropriately
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision

Required Qualifications

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship
  • Must reside within 50 miles of Camarillo, CA; relocation assistance is not available
  • Must qualify as a U.S. Person under International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) requirements, including U.S. Citizens, U.S. Permanent Residents, Political Asylees, or Refugees

Education

  • High school diploma or GED required

Work Experience

  • 12 years of experience in mechanical manufacturing, assembly, or related production operations required

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds
  • Ability to bend, reach, twist, and handle components and assemblies throughout the workday
  • Ability to use hand tools and assembly equipment safely and effectively
  • Good manual dexterity for assembling small and intricate parts

  • Manufacturing and production environment
  • Frequent use of assembly equipment, hand tools, adhesives, paints, and related materials
  • Requires adherence to safety, housekeeping, and quality standards at all times
