Role Title: Application Architect
Work location: San Antonio, TX
Must have skills: Java / J2EE Architect or Cloud Architect with AWS / Google / Oracle

o Executes architecture practices and processes by properly creating and maintaining architecture domain documentation, ensuring timely completion of deliverables and suggesting enhancements.
o Experience in technology application development and/or infrastructure and operational implementation.
o Deep knowledge in a minimum of one technology domain (from an application, infrastructure, operations, scalability, availability, performance, people, process, and tooling perspective).
o Understanding and application of technical architecture standards, principles, and policies and knowledge of applicable regulations and risk management practices.

Responsibilities:

" Act as the primary technical point of contact for onboarding new vendors.
" Guide vendors through USAA s architectural processes, standards, and governance requirements.
" Partner with Technical Architects to review vendor solution designs, integration patterns, and technical capabilities..
" Document design assessments, onboarding guidance, technical risks, and decisions.
" Support architectural reviews, checkpoints, and compliance activities related to vendor onboarding.
" Communicate expectations with clarity and professionalism to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Experience:

" Overall 12+ experience in IT software developement
" 3+ years of experience in software engineering, systems engineering, technical analysis, or solution design.
" Foundational understanding of architecture principles, including APIs, integration patterns, cloud basics, and security controls.
" Experience partnering with technical architects, third party vendors, system integrators, or managed service providers.
" Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to simplify complex concepts.
" Ability to manage multiple onboarding efforts in a structured, process-driven environment.
