Job Summary:
- This is a fleet position that requires special training and insurance.
- A company car will be assigned for this role.
- Location is Indiana, Kentucky, or Southern Ohio (Cincinnati area).
- The role is 100% remote but based in one of the listed regions.
- Work is 20% office support and 80% field support.
- Travel is mostly day travel with first-shift hours of 8 hours per day.
- Quarterly team meetings are required.
- This may be a temp-to-perm opportunity.
- Monthly internet and cell expenses are covered for standard charges.
- Fiber cable splicing.
- OTDR testing.
- Fiber network design.
- OSP and ISP fiber construction.
- Construction and splicing crew management.
- Power utility make-ready work with NESC knowledge.
- Underground utility location and re-routing.
- Utility pole proposal management using SPANS, NJUNS, or Katapult.
- High school diploma required.
- A valid driver's license required.
- Minimum of 3 years of telecommunications or wireless construction experience.
- General knowledge of outside plant construction techniques for aerial and underground work.
- Familiarity with OTDR and power meter test equipment and testing techniques.
- General knowledge of NESC, NEC, and OSHA standards.
- Knowledge of budget development and execution.
- Knowledge of construction management processes.
- Ability to read and understand blueprints.
- Ability to diagnose workflow problems, manage critical paths, and implement remedies.
- Strong customer service orientation with problem-solving and interpersonal skills.
- Strong computer skills with MS Office, Smartsheet, Excel, and project management software.
- Manage day-to-day administrative activities for the Fiber Network Construction team.
- Create purchase orders, create change management items, review invoices, and review splice packages.
- Perform fiber splicing within the assigned geographic area.
- Improve billing quality, deliverables, and end-to-end splicing processes with the team.
- Identify, collect, analyze, and report area data to support operations.
- Maintain open communication across the business to support build, implementation, restoration, and maintenance.
- Deliver area KPIs including OpEx spend, MTTR, percent on-time install, fiber complete for small cell, and installed enterprise revenue.
- Prepare and submit purchase orders and process contractor invoices for OSP and ISP construction.
- Assist with project financials and milestones including forecasting, issuing and receiving on vendor POs, invoicing on customer POs, and resolving past due invoices.
- Provide administrative support for correspondence, PO, CM, invoicing, tracking deliverables, and monitoring deadlines.
- Communicate issues to management before they reach critical status.
- Develop progress reports, track progress, and identify or resolve obstacles.
- Assist with ad hoc reporting requests.
- Review construction design packages and distribute as needed.
- Communicate with vendors regarding fiber construction work and billing.
- Understand service delivery and permitting or licensing requirements for closeout packages.
