Research Associate I
Posted
Under the direction of the Principal Investigator (PI) or designee, the Research Associate I provides operational support to the laboratory. The Research Associate I will perform research experiments as defined by the PI.
The laboratory of Accalia Fu is seeking a research associate with interests or experience in metabolism and diabetes, who is energized by multi-tasking and is looking for rapid growth in their research expertise. The lab studieshow molecular metabolism impacts the cells ability to adapt and response to stress which centersonimproving pancreatic beta cell functionand survival to uncover diabetes therapeutic strategiesand to make foundational discoveriesin metabolic biology.
Primary tasks will focus on a specified research project working with senior lab staff and secondarilyhelping with general lab operations. The candidate should be willing to work with mice using in vivo(e.g. live metabolic tests, injections, euthanasia) and ex vivo (e.g. blood processing, tissue dissections) procedures and thrive in a fast-paced evolving research environment.Routine techniquesincludein vivo procedures and tissue isolations from mice, cell culture of human and mouse primary tissue and cell lines, molecular biology, biochemical/in vitroassays and enzymology, and flow cytometry.
The candidate may be trained in cutting-edge approaches for example metabolomics, proteomics, and spatial platforms. Basic knowledge of statistical analysis software (Excel, Graphpad, R packages) is an asset. The candidate will be mentoredand trainedbeyond generallab skills and will be supportedin preparing for their future scientific career goals. Our lab advocates for diversity, equity and inclusion we have an open-minded, welcoming environment, and are looking for candidates from all backgrounds and perspectives.
