Job Description:

Do you have experience in a manufacturing or warehouse environment and enjoy working in a fast paced environment? We are seeking individuals that want to advance their career and join our great team. Manufacturing experience preferred!

Compensation: $21.85 to $32.78 an hour - paid weekly (Based on Experience)

Shifts available: (E Shift)7:00 AM- 3:30 PM

Responsibilities

The site Hourly Safety Leads role is to have an active role in the location safety and health programs that lead to injury prevention, compliance improvements, and enhanced employee engagement.

The primary job duties and responsibilities will include improving the injury prevention, employee engagement, and compliance activities at the assigned location

  • Active participant on all location employee led team projects.
  • Communicate team projects to peers and location leaders.
  • Serve as the location Subject Matter Expert on Behavior Based Safety (BBS) and train co-workers on the BBS Program.
  • Conduct (when appropriate) Safety Training (Monthly, Refresher, Initial, etc) for peers, new hires, visitors, and vendors.
  • Audit On-The-Job Training for gaps. Identify and help correct gaps identified in the On-The-Job Training programs.
  • Participate in Tier I and Tier II Sessions. The Safety Lead will have responsibilities for safety board updates and safety related follow-ups identified during the sessions.
  • Train leaders and peers on the 1 on 1 Engagements and Near Miss Reporting Programs. Analyze data generated by existing programs to identify trends and improvement opportunities.
  • Follow-up on Safety Flashes/Alerts from other locations.
  • Honor the site specific standard work activities assigned to the Site Safety Lead
  • Other tasks aligned with the compliance, injury prevention, and employee engagement initiatives.

Safety

  • Seek to understand and support a safety culture and workplace
  • Remain aware of surroundings and obtain knowledge of all required PPE for the job
  • Responsible for following all required safety procedures are for each task you do
  • Keep work area clean and organized
  • Report any safety concern, risk, hazard, near miss, or injury immediately to the appropriate supervision on shift

Quality

  • Follow all GMP guidelines required by the site and for each work station
  • Inspect all product passing through the workstation for any possible defects or product concerns
  • Report any concerns on quality of product immediately to appropriate supervision on shift

Qualifications include:

  • Passionate about safety as it relates to employee engagements, compliance, and injury prevention.
  • Baseline knowledge of programs such as Lockout Tag out, PPE, Machine Guarding, Forklift Safety, Behavior Based Safety, 1 on 1 Engagements, Employee Led Teams, etc.
  • Basic Microsoft skills (outlook, power point, word, etc.).
  • Competent in the use of a calculator and ruler/tape measure.
  • Proficient in the English Language (read, write, talk).
  • Capable of communicating in front of large groups and interacting with peers and site leaders.
  • Reliable/Dependable as it relates to completing work assignments.
  • Accomplished in coaching peers. Willingness to coach leaders.
  • Experience working in an industrial/manufacturing/warehouse environment

Working conditions:

  • The Safety Lead will primarily work Monday through Friday.
  • The Site Safety Lead may need to work on weekends, holidays, or alternative shifts.
  • Non-traditional work schedules will be based on location needs or specific situations.
  • Non-traditional work schedules will almost always be planned and coordinated in advance.

Physical requirements:

This position is in a manufacturing location. This position will have a mix of office activities and shop floor based activities. Physical requirements will include but are not limited to:

  • Standing for lengthy periods of time (frequent)
  • Sitting for extended periods of time (frequent)
  • Climbing up/down stairs/ladders/platforms (occasional)
  • Working in a manufacturing environment that includes periods of hot and cold weather, dust, noise above 85 dBA, occasional odors, and moving equipment (frequent)
  • Working at ground level (frequent)
  • Working outside the manufacturing plant outside property (occasional)
  • Working inside the manufacturing plant (frequent)
  • Roof access (occasional)
