The Operations CI Specialist serves as the operational liaison for continuous improvement initiatives within the processing group. This role ensures that CI efforts are executable, safe, and well-integrated into daily operations without overburdening frontline teams. Acting as a bridge between operations and the CI team, the specialist advocates for operability, supports execution logistics, and enables autonomy for CI-driven work.
This position is responsible for managing permit-to-work processes, isolations, and contractor onboarding specific to CI activities. The specialist ensures that contractors are properly trained, task-qualified, and equipped, and that all safety and compliance protocols are met in coordination with the Safety and Training departments.
- Advocate for CI initiatives from an operational standpoint, ensuring operability and alignment with production priorities.
- Manage permit-to-work processes and isolations for CI-related activities, ensuring timely approvals and safe execution.
- Coordinate contractor onboarding for CI work, including verification of training records, task qualifications, and equipment readiness.
- Liaise with the Safety department to ensure contractor compliance with site-specific safety protocols and onboarding requirements.
- Maintain records of contractor task training, equipment certifications, and permit history.
- Support CI team autonomy by streamlining execution logistics and minimizing operational disruption.
- Facilitate communication between CI team and operations to ensure clarity of scope, timing, and impact.
- Monitor CI execution activities in the field to ensure safety, compliance, and operational readiness.
- Identify and escalate potential conflicts or risks related to CI work execution.
- Assist in documenting CI outcomes, lessons learned, and feedback from operations.
- Ensure CI work aligns with established site procedures, including Principal Hazard Management Plans (PHMPs) and Principal Control Plans (PCPs).
- Act as a point of contact for CI-related isolations and operational coordination during execution.
- Support CI readiness by verifying equipment access, operational constraints, and permit sequencing.
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement and operational ownership of CI initiatives.
