Position Overview: The Project Engineer plays a vital role within the project team, contributing meaningfully to overall success. As an engaged team member, the Project Engineer offers insights and perspectives, actively joins conversations, seeks clarification when needed, confirms understanding, and communicates information in a clear and accurate manner. Generally operating with a reasonable level of direction, the Project Engineer is responsible for personal performance and the effect of their work on the broader team. Reliability, timeliness, and professionalism are essential, along with maintaining integrity in all project responsibilities and interactions with colleagues, owners, clients, and subcontractors.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and maintain project closeout documentation and requirements throughout the duration of the job.
  • Develop and manage the Submittal Log in Procore, ensuring it remains accurate and up to date.
  • Distribute approved submittals promptly to appropriate team members and maintain organized records in both the file system and project management platform.
  • Create RFIs, monitor their progress from submission through final response, and manage associated logs (ASI, CCD, RFI, and Field Logs) under supervisor guidance.
  • Participate in project meetings with the Project Manager, compile comprehensive meeting minutes incorporating input from both PM and PE, and prepare agendas for subcontractor coordination meetings.
  • Support field leadership and project management staff as needed to ensure smooth daily operations.
  • Coordinate with subcontractors through various communication channels and clearly summarize key outcomes and action items for the Project Manager.
  • Review submittals to confirm compliance with contract documents and project specifications prior to approval routing.
  • Attend pre-installation meetings and collaborate with the Superintendent to review installation approaches, confirming quality, fit, and finish align with plans and specifications.
  • Maintain and update as-built drawings to reflect current field conditions.
  • Keep digital drawings current within Procore and manage user permissions under supervisory oversight.
  • Contribute to updates of the CPM schedule alongside the immediate supervisor.
  • Assist the Project Administrator in drafting subcontracts and purchase orders.
  • Perform preliminary reviews of subcontractor cost proposals and discuss findings with the supervisor.
  • Draft and review daily and weekly field reports for Superintendent evaluation.
  • Develop a working knowledge of each subcontractor's primary scope of work on site to ensure alignment with project requirements.
  • Complete routine assignments independently while recognizing when circumstances require deviation from standard procedures or consultation with supervision.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline.
  • Three to five years of experience in commercial construction projects.
  • Working knowledge of Primavera P6 scheduling software is advantageous.
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to successfully complete a pre-employment drug screening.
