An Equipment Automation Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, implementing, and maintaining automated equipment and systems used in manufacturing or industrial environments. The role focuses on improving production efficiency, reducing downtime, ensuring safety standards, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Design, develop, and implement automation systems for production equipment
Program and troubleshoot PLCs, HMIs, SCADA systems, and industrial robots
Maintain and optimize automated machinery and control systems
Diagnose and resolve equipment faults, breakdowns, and performance issues
Work with cross functional teams (production, quality, maintenance) to improve system reliability
Develop and update standard operating procedures (SOPs) and technical documentation
Participate in new equipment installation, commissioning, and validation
Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards
Perform preventive and predictive maintenance planning
Analyze production data to enhance automation efficiency and reduce defects
Support continuous improvement projects (Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen)
Technical Skills Required
Strong knowledge of
PLC programming
(Siemens, Allen Bradley, Mitsubishi, etc.)
Experience with
HMI/SCADA systems
Understanding of
industrial automation protocols
(Modbus, Ethernet/IP, Profibus)
Familiarity with
robotics systems
(ABB, FANUC, KUKA, etc.)
Knowledge of
electrical circuits, sensors, actuators, drives, and control systems
Experience in
CAD tools
(AutoCAD, SolidWorks) is a plus
Basic programming knowledge (Python, C/C++, or similar) preferred
Understanding of
Industry 4.0 / IIoT concepts
is an advantage
Experience
2a 5 years for mid level roles (entry level roles may accept fresh graduates)
Experience in
manufacturing, semiconductor, automotive, or process industries
preferred
