Advisory Back-End Developer

We are seeking a talented Back-End Developer to join our team and help build scalable, high-quality applications. The ideal candidate is comfortable working backend services and databasesand has a strong understanding of modern development practices, automation, and cloud native architecture. This role will also contribute to infrastructure-as-code, CI/CD pipelines, and automated deployment processes using tools such as Ansible and Terraform.

This role requires full-time,on-site presence,Monday through Friday,at our customerlocationwith the U.S. Space Forcein Colorado Springs, CO.

Responsibilities:

• Design, build, and maintain backend web applications, APIs, andbackendservices.
• Build,optimize, and scale server-side logic, datamodels,and databaseintegrations.
• Implement andmaintainCI/CD pipelines to support automated builds, testing, and deployments.
• Collaboratecloselywith product managers, designers, andotherengineeringteamsto define anddelivertechnical solutions.
• Participate in code reviews, architectural discussions, andthe development ofengineering best practices.
• Write clean, testable, and maintainable code and contributeto automated testing frameworks.
• Troubleshoot, debug, and resolveissues across the fullapplicationstackandsupportinfrastructure.
• Stay currentonemerging technologies,DevSecOpstrends, and automation practices torecommendcontinuous improvements.

Education/Qualifications:

Required:

• U.S. citizenship required, with ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Defense TS/SCI clearance; Non-U.S. citizens cannot be considered.
• Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field with 18+ years of software development experience ~OR~aMastersdegree with 10+ years ofexperience.
• Availabilityto work on-site five days per week in Colorado Springs, CO.
• Strong proficiency with server-side languages and frameworks (e.g., Node.js, Python, Java, or similar).
• Experience with relational databases, such as PostgreSQL or MySQL.
• Familiarity with AWS and containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Hands-on experience building and operating CI/CD pipelines with GitLab (CLI and Runners).
• Understanding of automation and infrastructure-as-code concepts as well as experience using Terraform.
• ExperienceusingAnsible for configuration managementand system provisioning.
• Experience using Jira to support agile software development, sprint planning, backlog management, and defect tracking.
• Familiarity with Linux command-line tools, scripting, and system troubleshooting within Red Hat Enterprise Linux environments.
• Strongproblem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and collaboratively.

Preferred:

• Proficiency with front-end technologies including JavaScript, TypeScript, HTML, CSS, and frameworks like such as React or Angular.
• Experience with microservices or event-drivenarchitectures.
• Knowledge of API designprinciples and best practices (REST).
• Familiarity with automated testing frameworks for bothfrontendand backendsystems.
• Understanding of security best practices, secure coding, secrets management, SBOMsgeneration, andDevSecOpsmetrics(DORA).
• Experience with monitoring, logging, and observability tools.
• Backgroundinagile methodologies andDevSecOpsworkflows.

For this role, the compensation range for candidates in Colorado is $123k - 200k*.

*Note: Starting pay will be based on a number of factors and commensurate with qualifications & experience. FTI has a location-based compensation structure; there may be a different range for candidates in other locations.
