Emerge is currently recruiting qualified candidates for a direct hire Quality Manager job in Hampton, VA for our client, a quality aerospace and industrial components manufacturer. In this role, you will provide strategic leadership in quality systems and process improvement initiatives to drive operational excellence across the organization. You will develop and maintain robust quality procedures in compliance with customer and regulatory requirements, lead internal and external audit programs, and champion continuous improvement efforts focused on cost reduction and elimination of non-conformances. Additionally, you will serve as the voice of the customer, building cross-functional relationships to foster a proactive engagement culture and ensure customer satisfaction. This position reports directly to the Plant Manager.

The position offers a competitive salary of $134,000 to $160,000, plus a 15% bonus, excellent benefits that start on day one, including robust 401K plan, multiple medical insurance plans, and more, plus a full relocation package.

Responsibilities for the Quality Manager job in Hampton, VA include:
  • Lead the development, implementation, and maintenance of quality systems and procedures aligned with customer specifications and regulatory standards
  • Direct corrective and preventive action programs, serving as both advocate and team player to drive resolution and systemic improvement
  • Establish and standardize quality metrics and key performance indicators to objectively assess operational health and drive continuous improvement initiatives
  • Manage internal and external audit programs, ensuring compliance with applicable standards and best practices
  • Lead contract and product quality planning processes, translating customer requirements into actionable operational directives
  • Champion process improvement initiatives with a focus on reducing cost of poor quality, material review disposition, and elimination of non-conformances
  • Foster cross-functional collaboration to ensure effective communication, coordination, and consistent application of quality improvements across the organization
  • Mentor and develop quality team members while maintaining succession planning to sustain organizational capability
  • Communicate quality performance, risks, and opportunities to all organizational levels and external customers

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, business, finance, or related field from an accredited institution with a masters degree preferred.
  • Four or more years of aerospace industry experience within the past ten years
  • Minimum 7 years of leadership experience managing a quality department or team
  • Minimum 10 years of hands-on experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Minimum 5 years of audit experience in ISO 9001/AS9100 environments. RAB Lead Auditor certification or equivalent aerospace auditor credentials is preferred.
  • Strong proficiency in ISO 9000 and/or AS9100 standards
  • ASQ Manager of Quality/Organizational Excellence (CMQ/OE) or Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) certification preferred.
  • Knowledge of statistical tools and techniques, advanced product quality planning (APQP), and measurement system analysis
  • Demonstrated ability to implement process management methodologies and drive organizational change
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage effectively at all organizational levels
  • Strong ethical standards, analytical mindset, and data-driven decision-making approach
  • Demonstrated coaching and mentoring capabilities with proven ability to develop high-performing teams
  • This position is subject to ITAR compliance: International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), which requires U.S. person status; ITAR defines U.S. person as a U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e., "Green Card Holder"), Political Asylee, or Refugee.
