Job Title: Senior Data Steward / Data Scientist
Location: Cupertino, CA Onsite (Contract)
Key Domain: Retail / Consumer Goods Analytics
Experience: 5+ years overall; minimum 2 years in Retail or Consumer Goods
Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills are mandatory; ability to clearly explain complex data insights to non-technical stakeholders.
Role Summary
We are looking for a senior Data Steward / Data Scientist with strong analytical depth, data ownership mindset, and modern AI exposure. This role bridges advanced analytics, data governance, and intelligent automation to ensure data is trusted, well-defined, and business-ready. The role focuses on governing metrics and deploying AI-driven solutions to automate analytical and governance workflows.
Key Responsibilities
Analyze retail channel data (sales, inventory, performance metrics) using statistical and analytical techniques.
Build and maintain forecasting and analytical models to support business decisions.
Perform exploratory data analysis and translate insights into clear business recommendations.
Own and govern data definitions, metrics, lineage, and quality standards for key data domains.
Develop and maintain data dictionaries, business glossaries, and documentation.
Design and deploy AI or LLM-based agents to automate recurring analytics or data governance workflows.
Key Skills (Must Have)
Advanced SQL and Python (pandas, scikit-learn, statsmodels).
Retail / Consumer Goods analytics experience (mandatory).
Data analysis, forecasting, and statistical modeling expertise.
Strong understanding of data governance, data quality, and stewardship practices.
Experience with data pipelines and platforms (Airflow, dbt, Spark or similar).
Hands-on exposure to AI agents or LLM-powered analytical solutions.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Nice to Have
Knowledge graph technologies (RDF, Neo4j) and graph query languages (SPARQL, Cypher).
Multi-agent frameworks (LangGraph, CrewAI, Claude Agent SDK).
Data governance frameworks (DAMA-DMBOK).
Cloud data platforms (Snowflake, Databricks, BigQuery).
