Data Engineer Hedge Fund

Overview

We are looking for a skilled Data Engineer to help build and maintain a high-performance data platform that supports investment, research, and analytics teams. This role involves designing, implementing, and improving pipelines and infrastructure for large-scale structured and unstructured data sets.

This is a hands-on role within a fast-paced, technically-driven environment. The ideal candidate thrives on problem-solving, takes ownership of projects, and enjoys working closely with both technical and business stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain robust data pipelines for market, alternative, and internal data sources.

• Collaborate with analysts, product teams, and portfolio managers to deliver end-to-end data solutions.

• Develop tools and automation to improve data quality, monitoring, and operational reliability.

• Work with high-volume time-series data and ensure efficient storage, retrieval, and processing.

• Implement validation and error-handling frameworks to maintain data integrity.

• Investigate data issues and coordinate with internal teams or external data providers to resolve them.

Required Skills

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.

• 4 6 years of experience in software or data engineering roles.

• Strong programming skills in Python and SQL.

• Experience building and maintaining production-grade data pipelines.

• Ability to work independently and take ownership of projects.

• Strong communication skills, comfortable collaborating with diverse teams.

Preferred Skills

• Familiarity with financial products, such as equities, derivatives, or fixed income.

• Experience with time-series databases or high-frequency datasets.

• Exposure to cloud environments (AWS, GCP, Azure).

• Knowledge of streaming or real-time data processing.

• Experience with analytical data warehouses or OLAP platforms.

• Prior collaboration with research, trading, or data infrastructure teams.
