The Controller / CFO will be responsible for overseeing all accounting and financial operations across multiple related entities. This individual will play a critical role in ensuring accurate financial reporting, maintaining strong internal controls, improving processes, and providing financial insight to support business decision-making.

This is a highly visible, hands-on position requiring someone comfortable operating both strategically and tactically in a growing, entrepreneurial environment.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Leadership & Oversight

  • Oversee all accounting operations across multiple entities, including logistics, warehousing, and real estate holdings

  • Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements

  • Ensure accuracy and integrity of general ledger and financial reporting

  • Develop and maintain internal controls and accounting policies

Intercompany Accounting

  • Manage intercompany transactions, reconciliations, and eliminations

  • Ensure proper allocation of shared expenses across entities

  • Maintain accurate financial records for each legal entity

Month-End Close & Reporting

  • Own and improve the month-end close process

  • Perform account reconciliations, journal entries, and variance analysis

  • Provide ownership with timely and accurate financial reporting and insights

Cash Flow & Financial Management

  • Monitor cash flow and working capital

  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning

  • Support ownership in financial decision-making and strategic planning

Process Improvement & Cleanup

  • Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy

  • Strengthen accounting procedures and reporting structure

  • Help modernize and improve financial operations where needed

Team Leadership

  • Supervise and support the Bookkeeper

  • Provide guidance, structure, and oversight to daily accounting functions

Qualifications

Required:

  • 10+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience

  • Experience as a Controller, Assistant Controller, or senior-level accounting leader

  • Strong experience managing accounting across multiple entities

  • Hands-on experience with intercompany reconciliations

  • Strong general ledger and financial reporting experience

  • Experience working in QuickBooks

  • Ability to operate independently with minimal oversight

  • Willingness to be hands-on in a lean environment

Highly Preferred:

  • Experience within logistics, transportation, trucking, warehousing, or asset-based businesses

  • Experience working in privately held or owner-operated companies

  • Experience improving and cleaning up accounting processes

  • Experience supporting ownership directly
