Lead Munitions Test Engineer

Job Summary: We are seeking a Lead Munitions Test Engineer to support the developmental test agency for air-to-air, air-to-ground, and direct fire munitions. The ideal candidate will have knowledge of the 96 TW test process and experience or familiarity with instrumentation, ranges, aircraft, aircrew, data collection, infrastructure, and safety considerations related to developmental flight testing. The role may involve MRTFB testing at locations such as Eglin AFB, Nellis AFB, Edwards AFB, China Lake NAS, Point Mugu NAS, White Sands Missile Range, and other sites.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Act as a subject matter expert on system performance requirements.
  • Develop test objectives, methodology, procedures, and data requirements.
  • Identify instrumentation and test support equipment needs.
  • Create and manage data collection and reduction processes.
  • Coordinate with test support agencies and test ranges.
  • Prepare and review test documentation (data plans, methods of test, flight cards, and analysis reports).
  • Forecast test assets and range requirements, and serve as Point of Contact for test development.
  • Work with program offices and contractors to define test requirements.
  • Serve as Test Director or Test Conductor during missions.
  • Brief and debrief aircrew on mission requirements.
  • Manage logistics related to test equipment.
  • Oversee junior team members and help resolve technical issues.
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree + 12 years of experience, or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering + 10 years of experience.
  • At least 6 years of Test & Evaluation (T&E) experience.
  • Active Top Secret/SCI clearance (Special Access Program eligible).
  • Experience with aircraft and weapons integration in a classified environment.
  • Familiarity with instrumentation, ranges, aircrew, data, and safety requirements in developmental flight tests.
  • Experience with MRTFB testing at facilities such as Eglin AFB, Nellis AFB, Edwards AFB, China Lake NAS, Point Mugu NAS, or White Sands Missile Range.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in Physics from an ABET-accredited program.
  • Experience working with government and prime contractors on aircraft and weapons testing.
  • Knowledge of the 96 TW test process.
  • Graduate of a Test Pilot School.
  • Aircrew or operational testing experience.
