Skills Needed:
  • +5 Years of Mainframe COBOL (CICS), JCL, and Copybooks
  • Coding in COBOL (CICS), JCL, CA7, DB2, and Batch Processing
  • Developing and executing unit testing and integrations
  • Run, compile, and debug in IBM Z370
  • Mainframe programming in Z370 and MVS 2.04 environments
Our client, a top tier Management Consulting firm, is seeking an Maiframe/COBOL developer who is experienced working with mainframe systems to help implement a change to support correspondence generation in multiple languages (English and Spanish), including updating/creating reference tables and substitution variables. Responsibilities:
  • Design, develop and maintain Mainframe COBOL, JCL & Copybooks to meet project requirements
  • Develop and execute unit test and integration plans/scripts to validate that application changes meet technical specifications
  • Participate in technical reviews at appropriate stages of development
  • Interface with business and IT teams to understand business requirements and translate business requirements into formal technical requirements and application code
  • Work with IT support teams (EIA, DA/DBA, server teams) to ensure support and project requirements are developed and successfully implemented
  • Work with business team to complete acceptance testing and participate in integration testing
  • Provide Solution Delivery Methodology artifacts associated with application components
Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of mainframe Development background in design, analysis and coding: COBOL (CICS), JCL, CICS, CA7, DB2, batch processing
  • IT technical background & mainframe programming experience especially z370 and MVS 2.04
  • Ability to work independently on enhancements to Cobol programs and subprograms and can compile, run, and debug on an IBM z370 environment
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for working in a global environment
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to multi-task effectively
  • Prioritize Business Impact and Urgency
  • Perform application support tasks like systems support, security reviews, & maintenance tasks
  • Testing experience
