AI-Focused Senior Software Engineer (Contract)
Location:Palo Alto, CA. Hybrid - 3 days Onsite.
Duration:9+ months
Pay Rates: $70/hr $84/hr on W2

About the Role
Design, build, and operate platform/backend systems at scale. Own core infrastructurefrom Kubernetes and cloud-native services to APIs and developer toolingwhile partnering with product, AI, and security teams. This hands-on, high-ownership role involves production code, system design, code reviews, and engineering effectiveness.
What You'll Do
- Own end-to-end delivery of major platform initiatives (design to post-launch).
- Deep Kubernetes ownership: clusters, networking, operators, container lifecycle, multi-tenant orchestration.
- Design/optimize distributed services and cloud-native infra on AWS/GCP for scale/reliability/performance.
- Drive excellence: code standards, design reviews, automation, CI/CD.
- Collaborate with Product, AI, Security to align architecture with objectives.
- Mentor on architecture, trade-offs, delivery.
- Align engineering strategy with product roadmap/leadership.
What We're Looking For
- 6+ years software engineering (backend/infra focus).
- Strong Python and/or Go (production code).
- Hands-on Kubernetes (build/operate clusters).
- Distributed systems in production.
- AWS/GCP fluency (compute, storage, IAM, networking, managed services).
- IaC (Terraform+) and CI/CD.
- Applied AI: agentic tools (Claude, LiteLLM), AI gateways, agent frameworks; backend integrations.
- System design judgment.
- Strong cross-team communicator.
Nice to Have
- Observability (Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, OpenTelemetry).
- Multi-cloud/hybrid (AWS, GCP, on-prem).
- API/AI gateways, policy (ABAC, OPA).
- Service mesh/PaaS design.
- Engineering productivity improvements at scale.
