Ionic (Angular/React/Vue front end), Capacitor/Cordova plugin ecosystem and bridge behavior (JS native), WebView rendering (WKWebView) nuances, and offline/online hybrid flows.
iOS (Swift) basics needed for black box/gray box validation: view lifecycle, networking, push notifications, background modes, Keychain, and deep links/universal links.
Plugin Testing : validating Capacitor/Cordova plugins (Camera, Geolocation, Push, Filesystem, In App Purchases, Biometric/Auth), permission prompts, and error states.
Build & Packaging Awareness : Xcode schemes, provisioning profiles, signing, TestFlight distributions; Podfile/SPM dependencies for iOS; understanding how Web assets are bundled in Ionic builds.
Strong grounding in test strategy, test plans, risk based testing, functional and non functional coverage (performance, reliability, security, accessibility).
(Java/TypeScript/Python) for cross platform E2E on hybrid apps.
(if React Native is used in parts) and Charles/Proxyman for traffic inspection & mocks.
Proficiency with Xcode Instruments (crash logs, memory, energy), Console.app, device syslogs, and Safari Web Inspector for WKWebView.
Roles & Responsibilities
Own test strategy and coverage for features implemented with Ionic + Capacitor/Cordova and native Swift components.
Design, write, and maintain test cases, checklists, and automation for smoke/regression/performance suites.
Validate hybrid native bridges: ensure Capacitor/Cordova plugins behave consistently across iOS versions/devices; verify permission flows, fallbacks, and error handling.
Execute builds on Simulators & Real Devices; triage issues with reproducible steps, logs, and videos; drive quick root cause with developers (front end, native, backend).
Set up and maintain QA environments, test data, mocks/stubs; collaborate with DevOps to wire suites into CI/CD with clear pass/fail signals.
Gate releases: run release checklists, TestFlight validation, app upgrade paths, and store submission readiness (screenshots, privacy labels, review notes).
Champion quality metrics (defect escape rate, flaky test rate, runtime, coverage) and continuously improve the test pyramid (component integration E2E).
Security & Privacy checks in collaboration with AppSec (TLS, cert pinning behavior if applicable, PII handling, clipboard/pasteboard policies, ATS, tracking transparency).
test plans, decisions, edge cases, and known limitations; provide clear defect reports with logs, HAR files, and device context.
