Job Description

  • Direct Supervision of all Quality Technicians and handles all functions related to interaction with the Quality Technicians.
  • Provides leadership role in support of the introduction and maintenance of SMART with focus on Quality at the Source.
  • Is responsible for supporting initial development of and subsequent maintenance of a document control system to ensure the appropriate reference, use and completeness of process and product specifications and calibrations.
  • Works with suppliers striving to provide defect free components for use in the manufacturing process.
  • Defines quality control procedures and quality standards for the processes within scope to allow for Quality at the Source.
  • Assists in the development and maintenance of an auditing system of processes and products that extends beyond industry association requirements.
  • Documents and maintains procedures, flowcharts, etc. of quality department processes.
  • Communicates with customers to understand and eliminate specific quality issues.
  • Supports the development of measurement systems and communicates results for all critical aspects related to quality at the source.
  • Ensures alignment of data collection and analysis with organizational quality objectives. Criteria will include occurrence count, cost to the company and pain felt by the customer.
  • Assure the utilization of basic quality tools (Flow Charts, Pareto Diagrams, Check Sheets, Cause and Effect Diagrams, Graphs and Histograms, Scatter Diagrams and Control Charts) to ensure data collection is valid, accurate, and meaningful and is utilized as the basis for recommendations.
  • Facilitates quality teams to address major opportunities, ensuring a systematic problem solving approach that includes the Plan-Do-Study-Act method and root cause analysis.
  • Assists management and supervision in providing positive and negative feedback to all manufacturing process personnel based on customer comments, internal and external measurement status, audit results, quality project status and information identified by product returns.
  • Develop and manage to departmental budget, communicate status and recommends future needs.
  • Is responsible for the hiring, leadership, development, coaching, evaluation and disciplinary actions of the departmental staff.
  • The Quality Supervisor will be responsible for the growth and continuous improvement of both the Quality Control and Quality Improvement of all components, products and processes pertinent to their facility as well as day to day leadership of assigned departmental staff. This position is under the direction of the Plant Manager. Strong relationships will be required with a broad range of people including line personnel, Production, Inventory, Accounting, Sales, Safety, PDC, Maintenance, Engineering, SMART Teams, Corporate Quality, other facility Quality Departments, Suppliers and Customers.
