Google Platform Engineer
Overview
We're partnering with a leading financial services client in NYC to hire a hands-on Google Platform Engineer. This role focuses on building, automating, and scaling a GCP environment that supports critical trading and transaction processing systems. Ideal candidates will bring strong cloud engineering experience along with an understanding of financial systems and data flows.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain scalable infrastructure in Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
- Support platforms tied to trading systems and transaction processing workflows
- Manage and optimize core GCP services including Compute Engine, GKE, Cloud Storage, and BigQuery
- Develop Infrastructure as Code using Terraform or similar tools
- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines for reliable deployments
- Monitor performance, troubleshoot issues, and ensure high availability
- Partner with security teams to enforce cloud best practices and compliance standards
- Collaborate with engineering and data teams on platform enhancements
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in cloud or platform engineering
- Strong hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
- Experience with Kubernetes (GKE preferred) and containerized environments
- Proficiency with Terraform or other IaC tools
- Experience with CI/CD tools (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, etc.)
- Strong scripting skills (Python, Bash, or similar)
- Solid understanding of networking, IAM, and cloud security
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in financial services environments
- Exposure to trading systems or transaction processing platforms strongly preferred
- Experience with data platforms such as BigQuery
- AI Engineering or AI/ML exposure is a plus (MLOps experience is a bonus
- 12-month contract with potential for extension
- Hybrid role based in New York City
