Mechanical Design Engineer
PGS Worldwide is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer in Palm Beach Gardens, FL for a 19-month contract-to-hire role supporting a leading aerospace & defense company.
The Mechanical Design Engineer will support the design of structural components, functional systems, and subassemblies for aerospace and defense products. This role applies engineering principles, CAD tools, GD&T, design analysis, and documentation practices to develop and release design data under engineering review.
Required Skills
- Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering with 2+ years of related experience, or masters degree in Engineering.
- Ability to obtain a Secret clearance.
- U.S. citizenship required.
- Experience or working knowledge of computer-aided design software.
- Knowledge of ASME Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing.
- Ability to perform design work on moderately complex structural components, functional systems, or subassemblies.
- Ability to analyze requirements for materials, structural components, and functional systems.
- Ability to apply theoretical knowledge and engineering techniques to solve component, structure, and subassembly design problems.
- Ability to mathematically define engineering problems and compute engineering characteristics consistent with specifications and design requirements.
- Ability to document design results and release design data after engineering review.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, writing, presentation, and critical thinking skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
Preferred Skills
- Active Secret clearance.
- Working knowledge of NX.
- Knowledge of general machine shop fabrication processes.
- Additive manufacturing experience.
- Understanding of design for assembly and design for manufacturing.
- Ability and willingness to travel.
- Knowledge of additive manufacturing, metallic structures, composites, materials, and manufacturing processes.
- Experience with structural design, mechanical design, aerospace design, CAD modeling, GD&T, design documentation, manufacturability reviews, and engineering change support.
What Youll Do
- Design moderately complex structural components, functional systems, or portions of larger assemblies.
- Work from preliminary studies and concepts developed by senior engineers.
- Analyze material, structural component, and functional system requirements.
- Select applicable analytical data from previous products and apply appropriate technical principles.
- Develop original ideas and expand preliminary design concepts.
- Evaluate completed designs with supervisors and technical groups.
- Modify designs as needed to achieve the best technical solution.
- Establish requirements for materials, structural components, and functional systems.
- Release design results after review by other engineers.
- Document design activities and engineering results.
- Make recommendations to improve your own work and team processes.
- Respond to engineering requests and coordinate with other technical sources as needed.
Work Schedule / Shift
- Onsite in Palm Beach Gardens, FL.
- 9x80 A schedule.
- Full-time, 40 hours per week.
Pay
- $86.45/hour
