Overview
- Card Installments Technology team is seeking a Java / AWS Software Engineer to support the design, development, and enhancement of high-volume, customer-facing installment lending platforms within the Consumer & Community Banking organization.
- This role sits within a fast-paced, regulated environment and requires strong backend engineering skills, cloud-native development experience, and the ability to collaborate closely with product, architecture, and risk partners.
- This is a contract-to-hire opportunity with a strong path to full-time conversion.
- Design, develop, and support Java-based microservices supporting card installments and consumer lending capabilities
- Build and deploy cloud-native applications on AWS, leveraging modern DevOps and CI/CD practices
- Develop and maintain RESTful APIs and event-driven services for high-throughput, low-latency systems
- Collaborate with product owners, architects, and QA teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions
- Participate in code reviews, architecture discussions, and production support activities
- Ensure solutions meet Banking security, risk, compliance, and resiliency standards
- Contribute to system scalability, performance optimization, and reliability improvements
- Support Agile/Scrum delivery processes in a highly collaborative team environment
- 10+ years of professional Java development experience (Java 8+)
- Strong experience building Spring / Spring Boot microservices
- Hands-on experience with AWS (EC2, S3, RDS/DynamoDB, Lambda, ECS/EKS, IAM, CloudWatch)
- Experience developing REST APIs and working with JSON/XML payloads
- Strong understanding of object-oriented design, design patterns, and clean code principles
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps tooling (Jenkins, GitHub/GitLab, etc.)
- Experience working in Agile environments
- Ability to work onsite in NYC 5 days per week
- Experience in financial services, consumer banking, credit cards, or lending platforms
- Exposure to Kafka or event-driven architectures
- Experience with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes/EKS)
- Knowledge of security, compliance, and risk controls in regulated environments
- Prior experience working at JPMorgan Chase or other Tier-1 banks
