Grades Class Teacher

COMPENSATION: $65,559-$113,636 Annually; depending upon experience

The Grades Class Teacher (1-8) at Brooklyn Waldorf School is a vital member of our educational team, responsible for guiding students through their academic, social, and emotional development inalignment with Waldorf pedagogy. Class Teachers plan and deliver engaging main lessons and skills classes, foster a supportive and inclusive classroom environment, and collaborate closely with colleagues to support the life of the school community.

This role involves a long-term commitment to class teaching, including the possibility of looping with a class across multiple grade levels.

Classroom Instruction

• Plan and deliver engaging main lessons aligned with Waldorf pedagogy and informed by equity-conscious teaching practices.

• Plan and deliver skills classes supporting foundational learning in literacy, math, and the arts.

• Differentiate instruction to meet the varied needs of students, in collaboration with learning support andspecialtyteachers.

Collaboration and Community Engagement

• Collaborate with class and specialty teachers to support curriculum integration and school community life, including festivals and seasonal celebrations.

• Direct and produce aclassplay as part of the curriculum.

• Build strong, professional relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.

Requirements

• Bachelors degree and prior teaching experiencerequired.

• Waldorf teacher trainingpreferred, or willingness to complete Waldorf training within the first few years of employment (professional development support available).

• Strong classroom management and organizational skills.

• Musical and artistic abilities preferred but notrequired.

• Ability to sit, stand, walk for extended periods, and use stairs regularly.
