Position Summary
The Financial Analyst Contractor provides investigative and analytical support to Assistant United States Attorneys (AUSAs) and the Financial Litigation Program (FLP). The role focuses on conducting financial investigations related to criminal and civil debt collection matters, tracing assets, analyzing complex financial transactions, and assessing debtors' ability to pay judgments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct financial analyses of individuals, corporations, partnerships, trusts, and related entities.
  • Review and analyze:
    • Financial statements
    • Tax returns
    • Bank records
    • Credit reports
    • Escrow and lending documents
    • Real property records
  • Trace movement of funds and identify assets available for debt collection or recovery.
  • Prepare detailed written reports with findings and recommendations for attorneys and FLP staff.
  • Draft subpoenas, interrogatories, and requests for production of documents.
  • Perform database research and analyze public records, liens, judgments, SEC filings, and other financial information sources.
  • Support attorneys and investigators with case preparation and litigation support.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and provide verbal or written updates as required.
  • Assist with ancillary office and administrative support functions.
Required Qualifications
Education
Bachelor's degree in:
  • Accounting
  • Finance
  • Business Administration
  • Economics
  • Or a related field
Experience
  • Minimum of three (3) years of accounting or financial management experience.
  • Federal Government financial management experience preferred.
Required Knowledge & Skills
  • Strong understanding of financial analysis and investigative techniques.
  • Knowledge of:
    • Corporate structures
    • Partnerships and LLCs
    • Trusts and estate planning entities
    • Debt collection procedures
    • Garnishments and receiverships
  • Ability to analyze fiscal discrepancies and prepare financial reports.
  • Proficiency with:
    • Microsoft Excel
    • Microsoft Access
    • Financial databases and research tools
  • Ability to create charts, graphs, and analytical reports.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Work Schedule
  • Monday through Friday
  • Standard office hours: 8:30 AM 5:00 PM
  • Overtime may be required with prior approval.
Security Requirements
  • Must successfully complete a DOJ background investigation/security clearance process before beginning work.
Work Environment
  • Office-based role located in San Francisco, California.
  • Sedentary work with standard office conditions and minimal physical demands.
