Duties

Summary

Supervisory Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist to be filled in the Radiology Department at the Whiteriver Service Unit (WRSU) in Whiteriver, Arizona. The Incumbent will be responsible for the development of program goals and objectives; defining and resolving questions, problems and issues sensitive to varied medical, ethical, social, economic, and cultural conditions. Responsibilities

Development and implementation of policies and procedures consistent with current regulations pertinent to the management of the Radiology program at the WRSU.
Development, implementation and maintenance of a program designed to teach basic and advanced technical skills, radiation safety practices, and quality control techniques to staff responsible for taking x-ray images.
Day-to-day operation and maintenance of the Radiology package of the RPMS and Vista Imaging by developing local package enhancements, updating procedure codes, and ensuing data quality and timeliness.

This is a designated position covered by Public Law 101-630, requiring contact or control over Indian children. Upon tentative selection, selectee will be requested to complete, sign, and submit the Addendum to OF-306, Child Care & Indian Child Care Worker Position form. Due to this requirement, the agency must ensure that persons hired for these positions have not been found guilty of or pleaded nolo contendere or guilty to certain crimes.

A one-year supervisory/managerial probationary period may be required upon selection/placement.

Measles and Rubella immunization required for selectees born after 1957. Seasonal Influenza immunization is required for civilian health care facility staff working in Indian Health Service health care facilities.

The selected individual is required to obtain and maintain medical staff clinical privileges, including any licensure requirements. If privileges are not obtained or maintained during employment, the employee will be subject to adverse actions, up to and including removal from Federal service.

Alternative Work Schedule: May be required to work rotating shifts, nights, weekends, and holidays to provide continuity of patient care.

Qualifications

To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

For positions requiring positive education requirements, or if you are using education to meet all or part of the qualification requirements, you MUST submit a copy of your transcripts or an itemized list of college courses which includes equivalent information from the transcript (course title, semester/quarter hours, and grade/degree earned) in your resume.

BASIC REQUIREMENT(S):
NOTE: Public Law 97-35 requires that persons who administer radiologic procedures meet the credentialing standards in 42 CFR Part 75. Essentially, they must (1) have successfully completed an education program that meets or exceeds the standards described in that regulation, and is accredited by an organization recognized by the Department of Education, and (2) be certified as radiographers in their field. The following meet these requirements:
Persons employed by the Federal Government as radiologic personnel prior to the effective date of the regulation (January 13, 1986) who show evidence of current or fully satisfactory performance or certification of such from a licensed practitioner such as a doctor of medicine, osteopathy, dentistry, podiatry, or chiropractic who prescribes radiologic procedures to others.
Persons first employed by the Federal Government as radiologic personnel after the effective date of the regulation who (a) received training from institutions in a State or foreign jurisdiction that did not accredit training in that particular field at the time of graduation, or (b) practiced in a State or foreign jurisdiction that did not license that particular field or did not allow special eligibility to take a licensure examination for those who did not graduate from an accredited educational program, provided that such persons show evidence of training, experience, and competence as determined by OPM or the employing agency.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: In addition to the Basic Requirements, you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications stated below.

GS-12: Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: providing administrative and technical direction to Medical Imaging staff; planning, implementing, and directing a Medical Imaging Program; developing policy and procedure manuals; establishing and maintaining an effective Quality Control, Quality Improvement, Preventive Maintenance, and Safety Program; assigning tasks to subordinate staff; working knowledge of computerized radiography, teleradiology, and other diagnostic modalities; and providing supervisory oversight to staff. Experience in the operation of diagnostic radiology equipment under the direction of Radiologist or other Medical Officers to produce radiographic studies in medical diagnosis and treatment;

Education and Training: Qualifying educational programs for radiography and radiation therapy technology are available in accredited colleges, universities, hospitals, medical schools, or postsecondary technical or vocational schools. Education or training from programs based in hospitals must have been from those hospitals that were accredited at the time of the education or training by The Joint Commission on Accreditation of Hospitals or by the American Osteopathic Association.
