As a Quality Engineer, you will be responsible for championing supplier food safety, managing ingredient material categories, and working with both internal and external partners to ensure the safety of General Mills' products and processes. You will also have the unique opportunity to impact the Innovation, Technology, and Quality (ITQ) function by leveraging your knowledge and skills to provide technical expertise, become a leader of global connections, and be recognized as a valued partner for our plant, sourcing, and business teams.

The right candidate for this role will leverage strong project management skills, be results orientated, and be able to find opportunities for value creation in order to help the company succeed. The projects you manage in this role will provide you with a high level of cross-functional exposure and will accelerate your ability to navigate and influence across our organization.

RESPONSIBILITIES

- Champion material supplier food safety and regulatory compliance
- Manage specific material categories by identifying and reducing supplier food safety and regulatory risk, providing technical category expertise, ensuring specification compliance and assessing supplier performance; provide food safety, quality and regulatory training with our suppliers and external General Mills partners
- Conduct vendor food safety audits, perform risk assessments and manage exception decisions as they relate to policies, procedures and specifications
- Provide support as needed for global initiatives including but not limited to process improvements, process standardization, and team development
- Build alignment and strategy with cross functional partners; lead risk assessments and root cause analysis activities for issue resolution.
Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Food Science, or Science related field
- 2+ years of related experience
- Travel 20-30% of time, flexible travel schedule
- Ability to manage projects
- Demonstrated mechanical aptitude, ability to apply engineering principles, and ability to troubleshoot

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Self-starter who has the ability to prioritize workload while meeting commitments
- Understanding of product quality, sensory, and food safety
- Understanding of Zero Loss Culture philosophy and tools
- Demonstrated leadership and initiative
- Demonstrated ability to navigate complex organizations
- Plant Quality Engineer, manufacturing, or auditing/consulting experience
