The Associate R & D Principal Packaging Engineer is responsible to lead packaging development projects and provide packaging support. This role will also:
- Represent R & D packaging at regional level or execute packaging projects at a global level depending on project requirements
- Champion product quality and package design from design to commercialization
- Connect and actively contribute to R & D packaging team within one of our five technology platforms
- Participate to the R & D Packaging collaboration and direction setting meetings
- Participate in developing the packaging technology road-map
Occasional travels/visits are required to business offices and to the factories (~20%). The role reports into a Packaging R & D Manager, based in Minneapolis.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide packaging leadership and support to both regional and global projects
- Develop and maintain a packaging pipeline aligned with global and regional priorities
- Develop new and innovative packaging material solutions that meet customer and consumer needs while protecting product quality and food safety requirements
- Provide packaging support to innovation and core renovation projects
- Identify and support packaging Total Delivered Cost improvement (Holistic Margin Management - HMM) initiatives
- Collaborate with packaging Operations, Procurement and key suppliers to deliver to global and regional plans
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in packaging technology or relevant scientific/engineering discipline
- Minimum 6 years of related experience required; 10+ years preferred

Strong knowledge of packaging materials (carton board, corrugated board, flexible film), packing equipment and print processes
- Cultural and work style agility

Good project management skills
- Fluency in another language is a plus
